Secretaries Mission Statement:

The Janesville Psychiatric Clinic (hereafter known as JPC) has come into business in 1968
to service the Mental Health needs of people in the Rock County and the surrounding areas.
Since our beginnings, JPC has expanded our services to include Substance Abuse
Treatment services with an outpatient emphasis and also expended to offer quality Day
Treatment Services for Adolescent males. We are adding an Adolescent Female service
section in fall of 2010 with additional staff.

With our growing staff of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and Master's level Psychotherapist
we endeavor to provide ever increasing quality services, in a compassionate manor, and
with reasonable prices, and are willing to accept the most challenging cases to provide the
best care possible. JPC is one of many providers in the area but endeavors to be known as
the provider who gives: "The Caring You Need, The Experience You Trust". This slogan
is written on our logo and is our "Mission Statement".

JPC also provides services based on accountability, safety and treatment that enhance the
community and the Criminal Justice System. We will service, local, state, and federal
clients, with dignity and respect, knowing we are all imperfect human beings, at our
clinic location, as well as any location requested by our contracted clients. JPC will develop
and administer programs through partnerships with local, state and federal agencies to serve
residents in the greater Rock County area with public and individual safety the constant.
JPC and our programs will provide the
opportunity for education, treatment, and
guidance in the areas of community service, substance abuse treatment, cognitive
behavioral restructuring, employment counseling and help with residency referrals.

Treatment Philosophy:

When viewing the multiplicity of treatment theories, prospective, and modalities, generally
preference is given to use of that methodology or theory that will most benefit the
respective client. That being said, generally the philosophy utilized most by JPC is
Cognitive Behavioral Theory developed by Albert Ellis and refined by many subsequent
Psychologists. Generally most practitioners concur that clients are responsible for their
own choices, including the way in which they react and think in regard to situations and
feelings. Thus it is the therapist's role to dispute and teach modifications to beliefs and
therefore emotions and actions.

Much influence and information has been gained through the work of Dr. Donald
Michenbalm, Ph.D., the author of several cognitive selections and influential professional

teaching at many national workshops and seminars. Another influence is the work of Dr.
Marsha Lenahan and her cognitive work in Dialectical Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Bill Hollingsworth and his staff have been trained and use CBT.
